Hi all, just seeing if anyone has any hints or tips for removing Cerbera doors. I'm OK with the interior part and window etc but I've had a quick look at the hinges and thought I'd ask. As with many jobs on the Cerbera things aren't always as simple as they look so I thought I'd get a head start. Thanks all.

Unless you really have to don't! It's not so much removing them as getting them back on and lined up correctly is the single most difficult job I have done on the Cerb (including a body off and a gearbox rebuild!) Reconcile yourself to the shut lines never being quite right again...

If you really have to then it is a two person job. First take the inner panel off, disconnect all the wiring and feed it out into the car. Then one person supports the door, preferable with something like a well padded scissor jack under the edge of the door to take the weight, while the other person undoes the A pillar bolts.

To get access on the drivers side you may want to remove the steering wheel, you definitely will when you come to put them back on. You will probably want to take the seats out too as the only way I found to get even remotely good adjustment is to loosely fit the door, close it and adjust position with rubber wedges in the gaps, then tighten the A pillar bolts by sliding upside down into the footwell from the other side of the car so you can nip them up with the door closed.

They are gonna have to come off ready for it's respray so I'll have to bite the bullet. I was afraid it wasn't going to be as simple as undoing a couple of bolts. Cheers.

Its slightly more than a couple, but in essence its a couple at the top and a couple at the bottom. If you turn back the carpet immediately in front of the door opening you can see the bottom ones easily. The top ones are a bit trickier to get to as they are quite high up. I think the lower scuttle cover on the drivers side footwell needs to come off even if you don't take the wheel off.

As far as I can recall, you can get to the passenger side without removing anything, but it was a while ago.

Be warned the doors are heavy and awkward. You really need an assistant or something will get scratched.

Thanks for the help, there will be plenty off spare hands available when stripping down so should be OK. I'm helping the painter strip my car down so I can get to know a few more of its ins and outs. Thanks for the tips.

Hi all, I managed to find a few pages from the Cerb workshop manual and it shows how to remove the doors according to TVR. It looks a bit easier than undoing the bolts from inside the footwell.
