low miles last 10 months

I had this feeling that although I've been driving beastie regularly and in all weathers, I hadn't racked up a lot of miles.... So I've just checked my last MOT (May last year, 1200 mile service at the same time), and I've only done 1800 miles 
That also takes into account the couple of weeks that the mileometer was stuck on 50k and wouldn't trip over...
That's less than half the average mileage per annum for the previous 4 years
Could the love affair be going stale.... Could we be drifting apart? Is familiarity breeding contempt
I can't live with the idea that this might be the beginning of the end...
I've also found myself browsing the AM V8V classifieds.... And... (Oh my god) 997 ads....
Please help....

Mate, Tuscan owner here with a similar problem.
I am currently looking for a "no excuses GT" as there have been so many things standing in the way of using the Tuscan. Giving someone a lift, the weather etc.
On the list is Maserati 3200/4200/GranSport or M6 ( bit dull ) / Bentley Continental ( but old and a bit big )
Have to see what I can get for the Tuscan and then go shopping. Its an awesome car, very reliable but just isn't matching what I need from a car and after 4 years its time for a change. At that pace I only have 10 changes left in me before its Honda Jazz time :P

I think the crap weather has got something to do with it.
But on the whole, my love affair with TVR has never been stronger. I'm midway through a complete restoration of the 450 I bought for peanuts in 2014. I'm so looking forward to getting her back on the roads of blighty so she can he heard one again
OP, why don't you take yours off the road for a year and do her up? It'll renew your wedding vowels... so to speak

The problem arises as these are not an all year round car. There are plenty else on the market that are that you can enjoy even during the poor weather months.
The trouble is, when the sun is shining and you can put your foot down everything makes sense although the time and place where you can do this gets less and less unless it is on the track. I think that is why our thoughts wander to other vehicles.
Anyhow, you know what they say, a change is as good as a wink to a blind donkey.

I know what you are saying. The motor has been off the road nearly a year now. It's to down to me taking too much time making up my mind up with the best way to go. Now waiting for the workshop to put it all together. Have to say I missed it during the summer, but now thinking XKR. Spent a few quid getting to this point but still? I know when it's put back on the road I will love it. Just a bit frustrated at the moment.
Only you know your inner feelings,but as has been already mentioned the weather has to be a big factor to your low miles.
I'm not a "will not get it wet under any circumstances" owner,but it's been pretty grim for many months and I'm based in the Midlands which doesn't fair to bad compared to other parts of the country.
I've found myself grabbing the keys to my old Nissan simply because it's less hassle,I also live a little off the beaten track and the lanes have just been in a right old mess so Nissan it is.
I try to keep my car in a good clean condition but haven't polished it for months and also only covered about 1200 miles since September. Does this also mean my love is fading? No need to answer because the answer is No,I'm just putting it down to poor weather.
I had to pop out today and although it being a nice sunny day in the Midlands I very nearly grabbed the Nissan keys because I only needed to go about 5-6 miles. I put the Nissan keys back and got the dirty Chim out the garage and off I went with an instant smile.
After doing what I had to do I decided to go the long way back,so what should of been 10-12 miles ended up being 35 very happy miles. The only interesting car I noticed was a 65 plate white F-Type,everything else was just plain boring stuff and this is where the Chimaera draws the attention of other car enthusiasts. So not only was I loving my little drive but it was nice to please a few other enthusiasts ,I received three thumbs up and noticed at least five windows opening to hear it.
Roll on the sunny days and if you find the love is still missing and we can't blame the weather then maybe it's time for a change.

When you think that my first TVR back in 2001 did 24,000 miles in 3 years as my only car and I used to average over 2000 miles per year in the Caterham it all looks a bit hopeless...
With a wife, child and two dogs, it tends to be the Volvo that gets used and even when I am on my own, it's six miles to work and to get the TVR out I need to shift the Volvo, wifes car, two cycles and sundry stuff just to get it out the garage then move everything back. In the time it takes to get the TVR on the front street I can be at work in the Volvo.
And it's rained since October....
And the roads around here in North Yorkshire would make 4x4 truck break
And the local farmers think its fair to drive out the field and fling half a ton of mud everywhere (separate rant here as its positively dangerous to cyclists and motor cyclists, but do they care).

I did 10,500 miles in the Chimaera in 2014 (as well as 35,000 miles in other cars). In 2015 I did 4500 miles in the Chimaera, and that included 9 track days......
You have almost all said it - the weather has been dismal. And to enjoy a powerful, rear wheel drive car, with the best willy in the world, dry roads are a distinct advantage, even though mine is well planted and just as easy to get out as any other car. For the first time in my TVR ownership I actually had a pancake flat battery two weeks ago.
Christmas Morning 2014 I left the boss to prepare the feast and went out for a high speed blast around the empty country lanes of the East Midlands. Boxing Day I drove up to Blyton Park to watch a track day. Christmas 2015 I helped the boss with the cooking while it pissed down outside.
I too am going on a track day this Friday. Hullavington, near Chippenham, Wilts, if you fancy some passenger rides. I have spare helmets. Several powerful TVRs will be there, so a choice of rides.......and at the moment the weather is good.

We are only here for a short time and there are several other interesting cars that should be tried.
I definitely have a Porsche Itch that I may not be able to ignore for much longer!
I know what will happen though, I will probably look back to my super fast chim and regret selling the fastest car that I have owned.

Two days in a row - even with occasional snow flurries
Mind it is forecast wet tomorrow.
As for options, I have only ever driven older air cooled Porsche and have always been disappointed.
Current consideration list: E46M3 convertible, Mustang Convertible, Lotus Excel and a Mazda Bongo, Wedge and a Bongo.

although last year was an exception as I was off the road for over 18 months so really did rack up the mileage but certainly agree with the driving them quickly risk on the road in this ever growing nanny state we are stuck with Crickey sounds like you lot are off to pastures new.
Mine hasnt been used once in the last 4 months. But saying that i never will use it in the Winter.
I`m sure you will all have different feelings once the Spring / Summer arrives. These are warm weather cars, not much fun in the cold and wet.

and replace with what Porkers/Astons etc dont float my boat and the stuff I do like is beyond reach anyway inc the former, its the longest car I have ever owned so sums it up really 10 years + I shan't do anything this year, too much stuff going on in other quarters.
I will see how I feel after the summer but if I am not using the car as much, maybe it is time for a change.
Maybe it's because I love fiddling with the car and nothing has gone wrong with it for the past year, (that may be the sentence of death)!

So we are looking at sub 5.0 seconds, 0 to 60 mph at least.

a few weeks back, I responded to someone who was looking for a car but couldnt go through with it. I havent driven mine much this winter due to the timing of the weather, not the actual weather. Looking out of the window right now and its lovely, same yesterday and last Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday morning when I could have used the car, wet and rainy.
If I change it will be an old toy car and a fast new one. Mrs B's Mini comes up for renewal in September...
