here again for some help guys.
I noticed a rear end clunk the last few times I drove the Cerb.
It only happens when i lift off the throttle after a decent acceleration.
It's not a 'clunk sound' but a 'clunk feeling'. Am I making any sense? biggrin
And it feels like it's coming from somewhere around the diff or around that area.
The car doesn't feel 'floaty' so I don't think its the diff bushes.
Could this be the ARB bushes?
Am I on the right track here?

Could be the diff mounting bracket.
The original one is a weak point.
Mine broke and I replaced it with an uprated thicker one.

Ah hadn't considered that. it would make a lot of sense, as it happened suddenly.
instead of progressively like worn bushes would.
might as well fit some polybushes while i'm in there
Thanks for the shout aide! smile

Also the bolts that hold the diff nose brackets can come loose.
I put longer bolts in, and put nuts on the back to double lock it, aswell as lots of threadlock as its a pig to get to.
These coming loose give a lighter clunk than a rear diff bracket failure, which is a much heavier thump.
I made my own rear bracket out of 5mm steel, as the standard one has the thickness of a Twiglet tin!

Thanks for the tip :thumb up:
Yes i was planning on making one myself as well, as the original one did seem kind of flimsy.

You'll be able to check the rear diff mount by getting under the car and seeing if you can move the rear of the diff a bit with a pry bar

Checking it is the easy bit, getting at the mount is an absolute prick of a job

The diff virtually has to be removed to get at the mount, loosened everywhere and moved as far forward as possible

Great fun ...... not

If it's a weak point, I'm doing it anyway.
And polybush the whole thing while I'm in there.

I've got 2 real PITA jobs coming up frown

Two things spring to mind.

Drill out the old bush with a carbide bit.

To save you making a new uprated mount it might be worth contacting ridds, I got mine from him.

Dave Mac prop shafts secured with new bolts and nord lock washers are a good idea too.
