This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but after going through some very old slide photos over the weekend I came across a photo of me my Uncles old E Type Jag. Reg No. 614ELE dating from around 1970 (I was only around 4 or 5 years old at the time)

I typed in the reg on the DVLA web site and was surprised to see it is still on their database.

Manufactured in 1962, first registered on 6/6/62
Colour Blue
3781cc

No MOT history and tax was due 1st March 2004.

Now, as this info is still on the DVLA website I presume that the vehicle may still be in existence.

If anyone knows anything about this car then please get in touch.

This e-type was stolen from its owner back in 2003 and was never recovered.

The number plate however now resides on our F-Type. We managed to recover it the registration from the DVLA a few years back.

Wow, that is cool to know. I will pass over the info to my elderly Uncle. He will be amazed that the registration is still alive and well and living on on another Jag.
Shame that his E-type is no longer in existance.

Who did your uncle sell it to? My father-In-law purchased it in the 90’s I believe and had it re-sprayed & rebuilt. Used to be a regular at all the classic car events in & around South Wales until it was stolen.

I have no idea who he sold it to, must have been in the very early 70's when he sold it. I will have to try and find the photo which I have when he came to visit us in Norfolk. He was based in Southampton.

Why did you recover the reg? Was the E-Type yours when it was stolen?

It belonged to my wife’s parents when it was stolen. But before it was stolen and before we got married my wife & I decided that if we had kids we would name her Ellie after the E-Type… she’s 7 now so we got the plate back for her.

Then my wife lost both her parents last year who were still Jaguar nuts and had purchased a second E-Type after the first was stolen. We sold this as we are not into classic cars and purchased the F-Type and through it very fitting to put the 614 ELE plate on it.

Great reply. Logic decreed there must have been some connection smile

A nice touch.
