A number of cyclist have been left traumatised after being pushed off the towpath into the Grand Union Canal

Given that drowning is one of the highest causes of accidental death in the UK, that's one of the dafter comments to have been posted on a PH thread (against some pretty stiff competition).

Shouldnt think so - it will be a former tow path, rather than a footpath, and as such will have been designed for horses to use, and if that's anything like a bridleway, I expect bikes are allowed

Getting pushed in to a freezing canal with feet clipped in to pedals sounds like no fun at all.

I'd wager the youths haven't thought of the possible consequences of their actions. Not as funny when they're all sat in the dock for murder (if that would be the charge).

From the description they sound the type that will go on to (if they haven't already) murder innocent people for a phone or car jack, doubt anyone on here would find it funny if a fellow PH'er had a group slash them through an open window drag them out of their RS6 as what's the difference?

to be fair if there was someone posting about cars being vandalised we'd all be up in arms about it (rightly so) - don't really see an issue with someone posting about a bunch of knobs assaulting cyclists. Hope that the police catch them and ensure that no-one else is potentially injured

Indeed, I can't imagine how shaken up and then pissed off I'd be if it happened to me. Could easily smash all your teeth out on a mooring post on your way in, the canal edges are corrugated iron which could cause injury, then any ironmongery at the bottom of the canal, if you're in the water and still clipped in you'd probably take on a lungful of filthy water and by the end of it all you could easily be dealing with a grands worth of ruined phone, clothes, glasses, and anything else you were carrying.

As a motorist and a cyclist, I think the perpetrators are cocks ... IMHO . Some folk need to get a life and stop turning London into a sthole.
