Dashboard flopping around a bit.....

Afternoon all.
My dash is a bit loose, the lower part that is, I think I've lost a bolt somewhere. Could someone let me know the idiots guide to securing this.
Many moons ago I took the top of one off but cant for the life of me if the top is connected.
Any hints chaps?

First the top has to come off.
The lower section is then held in place with 8 nuts/bolts/washers which you will have to find in amongst all the wires and relays. They all fit vertically through the base of the lower section. They are (I think) M10.

Some cars I've seen have a bolt running through a hole in the drivers door aperture with a spacer bush then slotted in between the Lower dash side and the side bodywork,,through a hole in the lower dash and a nut on the inner side,,
Pulling the lower dash tight to the bodywork, it does work but is totally Heath Robinson.
Anyone else got this,,, mine hasn't but I've seen I think at least two that have, by pulling the door rubber away from that era where the lower dash is you should see a small bolt head!

Mine has the bolt and spacer through the drivers door opening. I thought they all had it. Oh and yes it looks Heath Robinson but it works

I find it amusing but as you say it's works a treat,,, in fact I've never looked that close at mine to be honest, I better have a closer look!
The one car I know well doesn't have it on the near side.
