The wheel sensor in my 3 month old CLS shooting brake threw a fit on the autobahn near Stuttgart (a Sunday so couldn't check immediately but MB in Verona were very helpful) about a month ago and I am still waiting to even be told when the part will be available. In the meantime various systems simply do not work - eg ABS, collision avoidance, stop-start - and I seem to be going round in circles between the dealer, MB customer services and Mobilo.

Is this a common issue with new MB cars? Surely a wheel sensor will be a part shared with other cars eg E class so should be able to be obtained relatively easily.

Any thoughts?

Update from dealer today - part is apparently on its way from Germany. No eta and nothing from MB themselves. Can't say I'm impressed by the level of service but at least it should be fixed fairly soon.

A colleague just waited 7 weeks for a suspension part for his almost 3yr old BMW 5 Series Touring - so I guess this sort of thing isn't unheard of.

Are you still driving the car? Not sure I'd be happy about that if ABS isn't working. Colleague had a courtesy car for the duration without any wailing from the dealer - but I've heard MB dealers aren't always helpful.

Dealer couldn't offer anything and MB decided that the car was driveable so refused to consider a courtesy car. The issue of no ABS was brought up but apparently made no difference.

I had a BMW before and the dealers always provided a courtesy car even if they had to hire it so not particularly impressed with MB or the dealer. I'm only four months into a 3 year contract hire so all I could do is switch dealer for servicing etc.
