Hi all,

I have been looking recently for a MB coupe.
I initially started with the W203 face-lift, (2002 - 2009) range, CL203, the C200 et al.
However the early CL203 (2008 to 2011) and they look much fresher, as one would expect.

I am not sure if I want petrol 1.8L or the 2.1 diesel, as my annual miles is circa 7000.
So have kept options open for petrol or diesel, however, it really must be automatic transmission.

Is there any gremlins I should be made aware of when viewing one of these coups?

Most of the ones in my price range, have just clicked over to 100,000 miles.

I have seen some with almost 180,000 miles on, (2.1 diesels) so I am guessing they can handle the miles reasonably well?

This will be my first MB.

Thanks, petrol would be fine.
If I was still in the 12000 miles a job, it would more probably be a diesel.

up to 6k

For 6k you could get a C350 Coupe & have a nice bit of change plus you'd be driving a 270bhp sleeper.

The CLC & C Coupe are the same car it just depends on what you like the look of both are reliable also don't discount the CLK which is a better car & a decent one can be had for your budget.

W203's appear to be faring well in terms of mechanical reliability. Bodywork on CLC's was well protected from rot, and behind the slightly cynical facelift, there lurks a fine car.

Petrol cars cheaper to maintain, and superchargers are maintenance free. My 180k returns 40mpg on a run with little effort, and enough poke to entertain.

C350's are a real sleeper, and an underrated gem.

The CLC 230 I listed is the newer shape, also I'd look for the Sport Models as they have a better spec.

Depends if you like life on the dark side. I found the Sport spec black headlining and dark panelling covering the Sport Coupe's letter box slot rear window a bit too much. Wasn't impressed by the stiffer suspension setup and variable ratio steering.

So not just me who thinks thew dark interior is a bit cave like.
Also heard it mentioned that running on 16 inch wheels is more smoother.

Wouldn't have harmed the ride, the Sport Coupe I had when I tried a CLC sport was on 16s.

I forgot about the CLC sports having rear privacy glass, anyone would think it was Merc's attempt at a van conversion.
