Just wonder if anyone else has recently been targeted by someone making payments from their account to Steam Games?
Some scumbag took 5 x £100 and 1 x £50 out of my account within an 8 minute window around 3.30am this morning. Ironically, the bank suggest no Verisafe was asked for, odd given I almost always have to use it even for small sums and regular payments. Still not sorted so not even sure I'll get the money back, though I did provide proof that the last time my kids used their Steam account was for a £5.99 game in Feb 2014 when I'd be using a different bank and account. So they could have got my card details from anyone I've done business with, which is unsettling esp. as he says my home details/postcard have also been compromised.
So now I have had my card cancelled, need to wait 5 to 7 days for access to my account (unless I turn up to a brand with photo id), will have some regular payments attached to my card cancelled or have to redo them all etc. etc. on top of 90 mins of time wasted on phone calls.
What I'm wondering about is how, if as claimed, scammers often use this source to pay for games they can't be traced as presumably they need to be downloaded to an ip address and to someone registered as an account holder? I think the bank will prove me right and refund the money but sound very uninterested in finding the vermin who did this.
