>mini rantbiggrin< I needed twenty mins to drop something off and say hi to a client. I had to pay for 6 hours.

Its not even proportional to the day rate. How do Councils get away with such non linear and unfair pricing structures? It seems reasonable to be able to pay for what you need and not pay for 5 hours MORE than you need.

6 hours = 60p per hour
12 hours (or more) = 43p per hour

Bet you South Easterners are chuckling mind! Cheap at twice the price - but its the PRINCIPLE and fed up of Councils always wanting to take motorists for a mug (whilst hitting businesses hard with rates but killing parking for patrons - but I'll leave that one for now)!

You can in London.

I parked in Shepherd Street (Mayfair) last Saturday and you can pay by the minute up to 4 hours.

We paid £9.80 for 2 hours (a minute would have cost 10p).

Most things get cheaper the more units you have/use why should parking be any different.

I have no issue with that! But how about you went to a restaurant and they insisted you take the 28oz T Bone when all you wanted was the 8oz sirloin! Ohh and you couldnt get a pint you had to have a pitcher. (actually - where is this place - I like it already - must be council run)!

Well I'm going to guess the following:

1. You would leave the restaurant and find one that served the exact item you wanted.
2. You would leave the public house in question, find one that serves exactly what you require.
3. You would leave the car park......
