Where to turn for help?
Discussion
I've been 'suffering' the last 4 years of my life (44 years old) with low grade inflamation/tendonitus/injuries that won't heal. I am collecting them like moths to a light. I now have about 7 injuries/pain/inflamation concurrently wrong with me and its severally limiting any activies. I cannot shake them and they have all come from very minor activities. I've been to my local Dr who is not interested unless as I'm at deaths door (they are too busy), and even paid for a rheumatologist who said my symptoms was did not 'ring any bells' in his field. Oh and in the last 6 months have developed a constant post-nasal drip which only nasal antihistamines helps.
I have an excellent diet, I was always fit and healthy before this period of my life started, Im not over weight, I do what I can around my injuries, but currently the combination is stopping me doing anything.
My live is pretty miserable these days, and I just know fundamentally something is not right with me but I don't know where to turn or who I could see to try and get to the bottom of it. I'm happy to go private if necessary.
Any ideas who I could see?
Sorry to hear this. It sounds awful.
Do you have the option to see a different Dr at your GP surgery? I think the NHS guidelines or rules whatever say that you have the right to a second opinion. It sounds like you need a referral to a specialist so the GP only needs to write a letter.
With regards to private near me there is a place called the Blackberry Clinic. They are Bupa centres and specialise in sports injuries and musculoskeltal disorders. They have physios, chrioprators, and Drs. I saw a physio there once when I had bad neck pain. The physio said they would try a few courses and if that didn't work then they get me in to see the Dr who would do steroid shot etc. They have centres in:
CROYDON | GUILDFORD | BRIGHTON | OXFORD | ABERDEEN | HAVANT | MILTON KEYNES

Might be worth call if you are near one and going for a consultation?

What are your concerns regarding your injuries? I'm getting the impression that you're worried that there is something more serious going on in the background, is this correct? If so, is there anything particular you're worried about?
Couple of things:1) - am I ever going to be able to live my life not constantly in low grade pain and never to do any form of activity/walking/exercise/play guitar/etc again
2) - There is a more serious underlying unknown issue. - I'm convince there is an underlying issue in fact - whether its serious or not it effecting my life massively
