Lol thats asking the flippers to regulate themselves! Porsche pretends they do not like flipping for 2-3 x multiples but this situation is caused by limited supply. Its the best marketing in the world and has halo effect on rest of the cooking stuff they sell also helping their lesser models residuals. Cars are quite good too mind but pls don't kid yourself that the flipping will ever stop or be clamped down on. There will be R's for sale at JZM, Tom Hartley, SCM etc etc the moment the cars are delivered and why not its free market.

All they have to do is pose as a buyer...ask the obvious specialist dealers to find them a build slot etc

Again a weird UK situation... Germany and NL actively track down possible flippers and take cars away right up to delivery date. My local OPC delivered 14x 991RS and have taken several cars away from flippers. We sign up to not transacting our cars first 12 months of ownership. Likely they would not try and enforce, but you would never see a GT car again.

If the flipper has just netted a 100k profit on a car i doubt for the time being he'd be too concerned about future GT allocation....

I can't for the life of me see why Porsche won't simply allocate a time-frame for each of these limited edition cars (say, 2 years) and just let people buy them. People would be more inclined to drive the cars, not lock them away. And how about this for a novelty...the public would actually see these gorgeous machines out on the road and maybe think, you know what, I quite fancy a Porsche myself! Surely that is a more powerful marketing strategy and in addition it solves a few of the unsavoury issues (flippers, bun-fights to get cars, accusations of greed when people move them on, etc). Problem solved!

For most upcoming R owners 100k makes no diff, just about same money as 1 1/2 holiday with the family.

991RS owner profile more mixed, to some of them it was a more meaningful quick profit hence the number of cars flipped. Over here they will not be getting any of the new turbo/hybrid PDK GT2/3/4 cars. Perhaps they don't care, probably not.

Doubt we will see many R's flipped.

I think sadly , success - they'll be delighted - it's great PR for them - they know 100 % what they are doing and if they wanted another result - very easy make more cars - I have to say this is making the brand feel incredibly desirable - job done . Shame

Interesting reading some of the comments on this blog, a lot of which I agree with. I am a huge lover of Porsche old and new and have been fortunate enough to have owned the 991 Turbo S, GTS, Carrera S, GT3, GT4, boxster Spyder now running in the new GT3 RS. I also have the much awaited 991r coming this year. In each instance of cars owned I have always driven the cars in the way that Porsche would expect!!!!! And I have always chosen to sell the vehicle back to the dealer at list. I know this may sound foolish, it probably is! But I would rather have good relationship based integrity rather than greed. I will be keeping the RS for track days and the 991r will accumulate mileage no doubt about that. These cars should never be purchased by flippers or speculators in my opinion. I'm sure Andreas Prunninger would agree!
Btw. I won't be driving any of the cars for a while as I've just got a driving ban for speeding in the camper! Lol

Hmmm, interesting.

I currently have a 991 Turbo S GB Edition, 997 Sport Classic, GT4 and a Carrera GT. Prior to these I have had a further 9 Porsche models over the last 5 years including Boxster S, 2 x Cayenne Turbo, Macan Turbo, 2 x Macan S Diesel, GT3 (which I sold back to my OPC because I thought I was getting a GT3RS - but didn't), 911 GTS Cab and a Panamera Turbo all well used and sold at the inevitable loss. However, as far as I know I'm NOT getting a 911R as nor did I get a GT3RS!

My cars are all driven and I don't sell the special stuff unless it's to move up ala GT3 to GT3RS and always through OPC for anything special or GT.

I do appreciate that I am a very lucky man, although I've worked hard to earn that. However, what more do I have to do to be classed as "worthy"? I do agree that customers who invest in the brand consistently and take the losses on the mainstream products should be given priority on the special vehicles. Of course they should! That's good business and nothing less than any of us would do with our customers.

By the way, I too would be happy to sign an agreement that any GT cars could not be sold for a period of time. Just saying!! :-)

to not get either an RS or a R is really surprising, I'd find it hard not to take that personally and throw my toys out of the pram if I was you.
