I need to replace the standard exhaust on my 996.2 GT3, firstly because at least one of the cats is now loose and sliding in the exhaust and secondly because the car is getting noisy and close to the limit on 105dB track days. I think the higher noise is a combination of the loose cat and the original silencers not being quite so effective after 12 years!

I'd like to keep the car as quiet as possible. Although I don't do many track days I like trying different circuits and if I can get it to 102dB standard or even under 100dB with decibel killers it will open up a lot more circuits :-)

Porsche OEM exhausts are pretty expensive so I'm trying to find alternatives...most of the aftermarket systems out there though are advertised with power gains and louder sound which is not what I want. Are there any options out there that are not louder?

I've spoken to Longlife and another supplier who believe they can get near standard but it's tough to 'guarantee' a certain dB level. Hoping some other PH'ers have experience of trying to do this?

I've got a nineexcellence switchable unit on mine - allows a normal and noisy setting via remote.
Mine is noisy by default smile

Works perfectly - not silly noisy either though I believe you can customise to be louder if desired.

I haven't got a sound measurement but never had a problem at brands, Silverstone, spa, Nurburgring.
Haven't tried Bedford or Goodwood with this car but then they are not all that exciting for our kind of cars (goodwood can be but noise policy is diabolical)

Have heard good things about ninexcellence but never used them, will give them a call.

I tried Goodwood last year on one of their noisy days, Woodcote and 'no name' certainly got my attention! No problem with drive by noise on those days

I measured my car with a dB noise meter app so can always compare with other cars if people are near London...

Hi - I'm round surrey way - car should be at Silverstone next Saturday.
Happy to do a demo somewhere.

9e are very handy around GT3s (as well as the cooking models too) and have looked after mine for years.

That exhaust setup sounds great. I'm also planning to be at Silverstone, could I pop over to have a look / listen? Is yours the red car? I think we met at the Ring a year or two ago.

Hi - sure pop over. I'll be with a white GT4 and red GT3.
