Smax - throttle travel

Hi all,
Looking to replace the family bus with a used S-Max. I've driven a couple but neither were quite right, but one thing that was constant was the throttle pedal travel. It felt really short on both cars, is that normal? Or am I just being overly sensitive?
Drove the existing family bus (a C-Max) back from the test drive and it was so markedly different it just got me thinking that they can't all be like that are they?
