Am meeting up with an old friend tomorrow in London

Looking for a venue where i can watch the rugby but wont be overrun by rugby fans....(slight paradox in that I'm into it, he's not)

Ideally a decent size bar that wont be too crowded & serve a decent ale....

any recommendations?

You could try the Devereux, not sure how busy it will get but it's definitely showing the rugby and has decent beer.

Its a bit dark and dingy and full of barristers during the week, and nobody at the weekend...?

That's what made me think of it, when he said not too crowded... Never been in at the weekend.

How central? The Victoria in Paddington is good. Only one smallish TV that I know of, so probably doesn't attract big sports crowds, but I expect it'll show 6 Nations games. Might be convenient for transport links too depending on where you're coming from.

It's odd. I work on Chancery Lane and walk through Middle Temple every day of the week, and drink a lot in the area - yet have never been to either The Devereux or the Cheshire Cheese.

Shall be in the Inn of Court tonight though beer

Getting into Waterloo & heading up to Angel later in the evening - so was thinking Soho/covent garden - hidden treats type places...

That Deveraux looks OK - a busy City Day / Quiet weekend type place would probably do the trick

I'm just next to the royal courts - we prefer the Edgar
