Anyone know the best place to get the alternator drive belt from without having to pay extortionate P&P charges

Any good motor factors should be able to get you a belt.

Pre-serp had the old style v, or wedge profile belts, serpentine engines had the 7 rib type.

The serpentine belts should have a code and then a number indicating length - just go for a belt with the same length (about 1100 mm - I think??).

If you can walk to the factors, then take the original with you and get a like for like replacement.

I have a serpentine engine and I bought a belt 7PK1853. That's 7 ribs, 1853mm long,

This was a couple of mm different to the original (but cheaper) but the automatic tensioner allowed for this.

You'd need longer with an air con compressor of course.
