Want to buy a telescope
Discussion
Hopefully the right forum but if not, please can a mod move it!
I want to purchase a telescope to view stars and planets as the kids have suddenly become very interested in space and stuff. However I have no idea what I am looking for, what is good, useful or just a gimmick?
So, does anyone have any tips, experience etc to pass on? Even any purchase recommends?

The Celestron Astromaster 114EQ won best beginner scope.
I had the grandfather of this scope as my first and it served me well for years. Capable enough to show you the planets and some DSOs - yet very affordable.
They also do a 130mm version if you fancy a bit more power - and looking on the likes of Amazon, it looks like they are currently on sale and going for around £135.
