Looking at selling on various auction sites and wondered is anyone thinks there are any serious rivals to ebay ?

Or is Ebay the only auction site to seriously consider ?

Depends on what your selling. There are some decent specialist actions around. But for you everyday general I need to buy/sell some crap Ebay is the way to go.

we are looking into the possibility of selling our speed detectors / car audio (both of which are excess stock) on the auction sites and looking into the best options.

e.g is QXL any good ?

cqout does not seem that great therefore wondered what others are worth checking out ?

EBay kicks QXL's arse so far into the distance its unbelievable. QXL will be gone in a year...

all the old competitors died, so im going to say no. there are no serious rivals. qxl is the last survivor, but as has been pointed out, its ... less good. By a long way.

Ebay may charge more, but they get more hits so more chance to sell your stuff...

Annoying isn't it?

Yes I have used Nochex, like PayPal but a lot more secure as they don't allow credit cards to be used.

Some competition would be healthy, but I don't see how anyone can do it. eBay has the critical mass.

I have read that yahoo are studying the ebay processes but it may take a while but rivals always pop up.

cqout.com tried in the uk but have failed so far to "dent" the opposition .

Indeed. That is it in a nutshell.

Even if it is more expensive than others ebay is still bloody good value - ive listed my x up there on a 10 day auction, with a couple of large pictures and a good amount of description. Total cost £10

Compare that to say autotrader which is £25 for 2 weeks with very limited description and 1 photo with evil size restrictions.

Now why didn't I think of that? Bloody good way of getting rid of the old battle axe...
