Hi there,

A couple of people have mentioned that there were 9 Cayman GT4's at Oulton Park. I for the life of me can only identify 8, which one am I missing ?

2 x Red

2 x Yellow

1 x White

1 x Blue

1 x Silver

1 x Black

I did pass a metallic blue one coming through Alpraham at about 3:30pm, it was heading in the direction of Oulton Park, was this a late arrival ?

Regards

Tim

My red one in the paddock but not on track. Also saw the Cobalt Blue Metallic briefly late in the afternoon.

2 reds didn't go on track, fokker and bubbles. Also saw the Cobalt heading towards Oulton, gutted I had left as I would have seen almost every possible colour then.

So 11 then!

2 extra red and the Saphire Blue was definitely there in the afternoon.

Wow that has to be some sort of record.

In hindsight we should have got them all together on the start/finish line during the lunch break for a group shot.

Don't know if anyone say the huge cherry picker on the other side of the track inspecting the trees we could have commandeered that for an aerial shot. biggrinbiggrin

The question is... How good are they on track? Despite their relative lack of power.

They certainly look the part!

The guy installed them all himself, very impressive accuracy.

From what I saw, and note that this was not time trials or a race (though you had to question that at times wink), the GT4's looked like they were catching pretty much anything aside from the GT3 Race Prep car; as was James in the Spyder. The track certainly suited them and were too much for anyone to keep pace with...the only notable exception was the 991 GT3RS which just looked incredibly planted throughtout; very noticeable just how much downforce that rear wing creates.

Out of the box, very very sweet.

Faster than my bog standard 996.2 GT3 and on par with a heavily modified and track prepped 996.2 GT3

Feels like there is a lot of potential left in the car too, so it should be interesting to see what's achievable out of them as and when people start to modify them.

Thanks. I have very fond memories of tracking my 996 GT3 RS in 2005 and was wondering if the GT4 would offer the same levels of track performance but with more road compliance. It sounds like the GT4 is pretty close, which for me would be plenty for track use. I know the 997 / 991 GT3/RS have moved the game on since the 996 GT3 but the 996 never felt slow. I guess the GT4 would be less of a challenge compared to the 996. I know tyre tech has moved on in the last ten years which may add to the GT4's abilities.

Either way it's all pretty academic for me now as it seems I've missed out on a GT4 this time round. Fingers crossed I can get the 718 version in a few years.

Enjoy your cars chaps!

It was the yellow Spyder that impressed me with its track speed and noise. Quite a surprise.

Yeah, James is a proper demon on the track.

Very kind but not sure it's the driver! In reality the cars are evenly paced - lower centre of gravity on spyder trumps trick front suspension on GT4 - less rubber makes spyder easy to deal with on the edge. Mind you Spyder brakes are bloody rubbish!

Very happy to come out to play - any ideas for a venue in next couple of weeks ? (Already booked for Anglesey with Porsche Club)
