Another 650s incoming
Discussion
👍🏼 congratulations! I got mine 2 weeks ago and love the thing! Coming from the epic n/a 458 and GT3 RS I more than wondered how I'd get on with the 650S (test drives just aren't enough to form a proper opinion). But the car is absolutely phenomenal.
Look forward to seeing some pictures and details. Please let us know how you get on/first thoughts when it arrives.

Congrats, another Ferrari and 458 convert . Just awesome cars, and you can see how the awareness, recognition and McLaren brand is growing exponentially now. There is a real head up of steam and in 10 years time the pent up demand from younger generations will manifest itself in these early McLaren cars.
Had a lovely scuttle shake free drive in mine with the roof down today. The carbon tub is the future for all convertibles

I blame Brad, after running into him in France last June and seeing up close his lovely 650 spider.

You won't regret it Pete, they are stunning things and a worthy addition to your collection.
Enjoy in good health.

I hope you guys didn't have your car delivered looking like this.

Luckily, it was all sorted, but its common to have a mclaren needing lots of sorting out.
Is that just swirl marks and a scratch ? Who the hell would deliver a car like that and think its acceptable - Presumably its a used car from a non McLaren dealer.

Mine was delivered new in a covered transporter and was perfect, how it should be.
Nope, those are buffer trails and the picture of the sill had a big sanding patch that had not been polished out. This is a brand new car and was dropped off at the dealership and then sent to paintshield to be detailed by me and then covered in film and Gtechniq crystal serum.
To be honest, i see stuff like this all the time, though to be fair most mclarens aren't as bad as this one all over. They are normally bad though. They are up there with Ferrari and Aston. I have never seen one that didn't need sorting out. What also annoys me is that they don't seem to know there are rubber seals on the car and polish straight over them. I know they only have 45 mins to polish each car, but I'm surprised they are letting them out the way they do.

Do you apply Gtechniq crystal serum on the film ?!?To be honest, i see stuff like this all the time, though to be fair most mclarens aren't as bad as this one all over. They are normally bad though. No, just on the areas that don't have the film. At a later date, you can put something on there though, but the film needs at least a good week before you can do anything on it.
sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread or seem to advertise.
back to the original thread. Im looking forward to seeing pics of the car when its picked up. You've gone for a very cool colour.

There was a thread on colour the other week. For me I find having a bold colour on cars of this sort adds a lot to the experience.
Its part of the fun IMO. Orange on the Gallardo, so wanted another stand out colour on the Mac. Most McLarens are in subdued shades which is tasteful but kind of misses the point.Up until 650 came out the only real option was oranges of various shades but I've done orange for the past couple of years.I love the green personally especially in the sun where the colour works really well.
PPF next as my cars are definitely not garage queens

You should give Paintshield a call. They have done many many mclarens and are the best ppf installers in the country.
I have used Paintshield in the past and may well do so again but CG have the edge, as good as it gets. They have 4 675LTs in at the moment. My choice may come down to who can do it quickly enough though. At the end of the day, go with whoever you like the most and will do the best job. I can't tell you what's at Paintshield at the min, but an LT is one of them. Don't know when you last used them, but they use suntek film, not expel now and it's got much more clarity than expel has. There are lots of expel installers popping up, but I would only recommend my clients to go to Paintshield.
