Morning all

Went to Cooper BMW in Reading yesterday to have a look at the Long Beach Blue X6 they have in stock as I have not seen the colour in daylight and was curious whether to spec it on my M2.

In the press photo's of the M2 it looks darker and I took some photo's of the X6 in Reading but struggled to capture the colour as its more teal coloured than blue.

I found these pics on the net which show off the colour better..... must say i'm in two minds about whether to spec it on my M2.....the only problem is all the other colours are boring! White, Grey Black or this Long Beach Blue....thoughts?

One of the M2 in LBB, looks a lot darker in the press photo's...

I was in Geneva with 3 friends on Friday. 2 of us (including me) liked the LBB and 2 detested it. The more I stared at it I then began to swither... but I think that was partly because the M2 was less impressive in the flesh than I had expected. Nowhere as near the presence of the 1M. The white M Performance car was nice, but it has £10k plus add ons!

Were you initially shocked at how different it looked? I must say when I saw the colour for real I was a bit taken aback as to how much green there was. Its more Jade green than Blue....and i'm not sure I like it!

Was in Geneva too. I agree about the M2 not having any presence. Interior is the main disappointment being identical to an m-sport model 2 series, along with the cheap plastic on the side vent and rear diffuser. I am in 2 minds.

Another one who went to Geneva last week as I wanted to check out the M2. I've ordered mine in LBB and have stuck with the colour having seen it. If my missus didn't already have MG on her 3 series I'd have probably gone for that. In all the pictures I've see the Blue looks far more like Estoril Blue which would have been great, LBB uses a little too much green.

Saw an X6M in LBB the other day - I don't think the colour will age well, it certainly cheapened the look of the X6M.

Perhaps it looks better spec'd with black interior rather than pale, or god forbid, red!

I looked at all the pictures and was set on LBB....after seeing the colour live I have change my mind.

Its just got to much green in it and it looks teal rather than blue.

Massively annoying that we can't have any other colours! mad

I saw an X6M this morning which looked vile, but that could just have been because it was an X6. I'm still undecided on the M2 until I see one in the flesh.

I don't think it is helped though by loads of the press shots being re-touched to look more like Estoril:

I hope no-one is disappointed when their turquoise car is delivered!

I prefer the lighter colour in the OP's photos.

Hard colour to love.....
Too many memories of 90s "special edition" Honda Civics, and Peugeot 106s, of a very similar colour.

BMW UK have a few demo/press cars so they must be arriving at dealers soon, anyone know of any that will be getting one soon that punters can take a look at?

I'm on the list for November delivery but would like to see one soon, if I don't like it I can switch to something else with earlier availability!

That's lovely! I'm guessing this was a 'full' Individual order (as in it cost mega bucks and the chassis, suspension turrets, bonnet underside etc are also lacquered?)

My understanding is LBB is essentially the same as Atlantis Blue, merely renamed to align with their 'race track derived' M-car colour naming system and updated in terms of modern-day metallic fleck technology to give it a bit more sparkle.

They did the same with Estoril Blue, except they didn't rename it (they just changed it to 'Estoril II'). That's why F generation Estoril blue cars looks a bit more sparkly than the old Z3 / E36 / E46 / Z3Ms did!

Yes, it is a bmw indvidual colour from factory.

That's really intersting about the colour name change and I'm not at all suprised to hear they are actually the same. Just out of interest where did you hear this info?

Mine has lots of Metallic fleck in it, I have thought much more than previous generation cars I have seen in same the colour.
