Hayfever season has arrived!

I knew it - every year I forget to prepare, but today I'm sneezing my head off, runny nose, itchy eyes, the lot.
It clicked - We've had 3 days of the first proper spring weather this year, and I spent all weekend outside in the country.
As I understand it, early sufferers are reacting to Tree Pollens, which are the first to be released. My Hayfever tends to have dried up by May which means I'm not affected by crops, grass, flowers etc.
Never really found an effective control, so I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has just had their first day of sneezing this week, and what they do about it.

There is a huge range of antihistamines available , I would look into one that suits your symptoms, see your GP, mine gave me a long list of prescriptions and told me to try each and one would work!
I've suffered with allergies on and off all my life, so long term tried loads, some make me pass out with dopeyness, others have dealt with the symptoms and had no side effects. I took the baby version of piraton and passed out for 24 hours once!! On the other hand I took loratadine tablets everyday for 6 months with no real side effects
The second & third generation tablets are good, as are prescription sprays.

Exactly the same here! This week, woken up sneezing, sinuses feeling blocked groggy etc.
I get hayfever very early on in the year. But it does mean that by the time summer is in full swing I am ok. I think (could be wrong) it is grass pollen I'm allergic to.
I use Loratadine, one a day, for about 1-2 months and it seems to do me fine, without any noticeable side effects aside from feeling thirsty a bit more than usual.

I think it was Loratadine that made me feel lousy, I've started on Ceterizine (cheap Tesco ones) for the past few days and seems to have started working.
Again something that might be coincidence but I tried someones tip of vaselining my nostrils in the morning - to 'catch' the pollen, seems to also be having an effect maybe.
FYI I think its Tree Pollen which is the earliest - March to May-ish.

I used to be something in August as a Child. But it's got earlier and earlier and assume I'm now affected by tree pollens as it started a few days ago.
I've tried nearly every tablet you can get over the counter (including some french stuff in Le Mans) and whilst they help, they don't really work.
Last year the doctor recommended I try a nasal spray, and it seemed to work. I say seemed as I started using it towards the end of the hayfever season. He also said to start using it early spring this year to build up a resistence in time for when it normally kicks in. So far so good. I'm hoping it will at the very least work in tandom with tablets and stop my nose watering constantly.
I can't remember the name, but it smells of spearmint and I'll post it when I get home tonight.
