Just got my V8S, all prejudices confirmed
Discussion
Dear all,
after 18 months of struggle I finaly got the plates for my V8S. How taking off a rollbar can enhance security is beyond me, but I suppose I do not have to understand this kind of stuff.
And within a few days, all the prejudices so coveted by the general public and TVR owners were confirmed.
I giggled like a tipsy little girl when I started up the engine to drive home from where the car was prepared from MOT.
Before I reached the main road, the car broke down because of a loose immobilizer contact.
On the way home, the rain was dribbling in because the electric windows do not go all all all the way up. And I did not care and just grinned like madman.
Scores of people gave me a thumbs up when I passed by.
A woman asked if I could give her a ride, no matter where I went. I declined. It did not help that she wasn't exactly a model.
I carefully positioned the car in the middle of the road at a long straight stretch of road and did a point and shoot.
I stopped breathing when I dared to fully open the throttle and we reached 6000 rpm. The knot in my stomach took 30 minutes to go away.
To humour my son, I stepped on the loud pedal only one road away from our house.
I dropped the clutch ina tunnel and stepped on the loud pedal.
I had muscle ache in my cheeks from the wide grin I had during all this on my face.
Childish, really, but sooo fun.

Hi Lutz
The S forum on PH has a lot of knowledge, do not be afraid to ask questions, they are a helpful lot on there.
The windows are an easy fix. Look down the inside of the window and you will see a grub screw on the end of a shaft. Adjusting this allows you to set the top-stop for the window.
Look on the S forum, there are a lot of us going on a Eurotour to the Ardenne and Netherlands at the end of May. Some us us are stopping overnight (May 30th) in Brugge on the way back. it would be great to meet you.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the S. The V8 is a great car, you will love it; I know I do

Hi Lutz,
I can still remember the ache caused by my smile when I first blasted my V8S up the road where I lived. That was about 20 years ago! It was the first time I've ever kept on smiling at someone giving me the wa***r sign (some jealous or ignorant chap who heard the pops coming his way).
In my view the V8S is a much under-rated TVR. It's handling, when set-up right was IMHO better than 4.0litre Chims and Griffs.
I still miss the noise. I like the note of the Cerb I have now but it's a bit rude compared to the pre-cat V8S.
Keep smiling and enjoying it. I know how you feel!
