I have always loved the Sport Classic, its probably one of the best looking cars around. The last time a saw one for sale it was about £130K which I thought was steep at the time. So too see one advertised at £295,000 came as a massive shock, someone please tell me this is a mistake

Yes, but its a bloody nice frock.
Tis indeed a very nice frock. I've seen one and it did look lovely, inside and out. But, it's no better dynamically than a GTS. If we wasn't in this crazy bubble then I would guess it would be 20-30% more £ than a GTS. To think this is 3x the price of a 997 GT3! A GT3 is a totally different car to a standard 911 so at least they justify their premiums over a standard C2S, but a bit of leather and a unique colour.... Amazing what a numbered plaque can do.
Mad world atm
A car like that was never built to be a drivers car. It was built as a collectors car. Yes, it is only a GTS under the body, but that was never the point. The point of it is that you are more likely to see someone driving down the street in a 918 than a sports classic. It was a car never meant for us mere mortals. It was designed as a mega rare, very special collectors car, to be tucked away under a dust sheet in a garage in Monaco. Having said that if I had one it would be my daily driver.

I would be more inclined to buy a used gts and make a few tweaks
As a car to use this would make a lot of sense, you'd lose the double bubble roof, possibly trhe wheels & trim but save a huge amount of money & still have a very special car to you know,
, rather than hide under a dust sheet in your collection.I think I've said this before on here but was at the Oldtimer GP with Porsche the year these came out, there were 3 pre-production models on display with 0000000 chassis numbers, they were due to be crushed shortly afterwards but they were stunning, stunning things. Couple of the group tried to make the Porsche bloke an offer on them, but he wasn't having any of it!
I've seen one locally but that was shortly after they came out, not see one since, and probably won't.

For the money- no justification buying one of these over a GT3 or similar......
what a rip off......reminds me of the special edition 'Mayfair Porsche' they did
last year with nice cloth seats and a plaque.
I think Keith Flint out of The Prodigy used to have a Sport Classic- although I imagine
he is free from the normal financial constraints and good luck to him.

I got offered one of those by a "specialist dealer" last year who was trying to sell it for a "Porsche VIP" customer without Porsche knowing about it. Makes the Sport Classic look cheap...think it was £145k list and given there were only 7 cars or so and only built for one dealer nothing more than a limited run of cars that Porsche Mayfair went a bit crazy on the options list with.what a rip off......reminds me of the special edition 'Mayfair Porsche' they did

The Sport Classic colour is one of the few colours that you can't order PTS apparently as is also the case with the cream colour that some 911 50th's come in. This colour

Why anyone would want a 911 that colour is beyond me. The grey or black 50th's look much nicer than that.
