Crankcase breather(s)
Discussion
I have an AS supplied SBC engine with the two typical crankcase breathers on top of the rocker covers, but is this enough? It has been suggested that the build up of crankcase pressure can cause oil leaks and in particular with the front oil seal. I have recently replaced this due to a leak and did notice that the seal was not completely flush/square with the timing cover aperture, has this been pushed out due to excessive pressure?
A possible cure is to add a third breather to the fuel pump blanking plate, this could then be T’ed into the pipe leading back to the alloy catch tank. Does anyone have any views on this subject, I would like to know.
Thanks,
Phil.
