Anyone else getting these from HM Govt? Mine started in December and keep coming. They don't take long to calculate and input so no complaints but I'd rather not have them hanging over me.

I know understand how the government makes projections and calculations on growth etc..

Yes. Spelled out in red letters at the top of the letter.

Another example of the government being unfriendly to business.

I'd contact them explaining the amount of time you have already put into this and the amount of ongoing time it takes you with a request they bother someone else for a while.

I've never seen one but it could be a computer error resulting in you being sent too many requests.

It is very simple to calculate and input. All they ask is your turnover for a given month minus various exclusions. It takes me 2 minutes to calculate and 2 minutes to call the phone number and input my numbers.

My business is not like a supermarket, say, and so there are massive variations in t/o from month to month.

I had never heard of the thing before I got my request for December numbers and so was just interested if others in the PH massive had been getting it. Also just curious how long this is likely to go on for.

My biggest fear is forgetting to do it and then forgetting again after they send the reminder letter and then getting the £2500 fine. I'm the type of person who would forget even if I set a reminder in my calendar

It's the National Statistics Office, which is a Goverment department. Prosecution for failure to complete the survey.

They pick a number of businesses (based, it would appear, upon whether or not I am involved in them), and then they shower them with questionnaires. They're used to analyse changes in Balance Of Trade, Inflation, GDP and the like.

I have suffered these for probably a dozen years or so.

Pretty much. They want to look at trends, so using the same businesses repeatedly allows them to compare like with like.

Or somesuch.

We got these each month for about 6 months a few years ago. They just stopped sending them after that, so there may be hope for you.
