First up get your brains out the gutter lol....I'm talking wheel width

The cerb wheels on my wedge are going in the skip.......and I've sold the split rims as wanted wider than the 7" width they were

Soooo

Been hunting for replacement wheels for the long term and found an interesting set but I need to cross check my maths with you lot that they will fit :-)

They are 16x8 and the correct 112 PCD........so far so good........I know these would fit on a standard ET / Offset but the set i'm looking at are ET11

I've been on all the online calculators and if I select 225 45 16 tyres all round for the rims.......the tyres will stick out 12mm further than standard 390/420SE wheels running 225 50 15 on a 15x7 ET23 rim

12mm extra should be ok right???

I've not done the maths, but do you mean total width is up 11mm, or 11mm inboard and outboard?

Backspace looks the same give or take a mm so internal edge issues shouldn't be a problem, so just really with it sticking out 12mm further would it rub......I'm thinking not but want the collective hours ;-)

Yes it may rub, mine did, and at this point you may find that the tub is slightly off centre or it rubs more one side than the other.

With mine I had to adjust the tub nearside up a little (with some packing) and improve the bump stops on that side (it would only rub on full deflection e.g. on the Fosse Way with the Mrs in there) and also shave a little off the inner wheel arch. It seems to have done the trick.

Geoff,
firstly are these OZ split rims you bought from Glen and if so are you saying that the outer rims are available in a wider width to basically make them into the deeper dish look 8" jobbies?

Yes , well at least I have found a website advertising them .
Not ordered them yet as need to steel myself for the cost. (£100 each!!!)
They have sizes going up in 1/2 inch steps from 1" to 6 1/2".
7" wheels have a 1 1/2 " polished rim. So need 2 1/2" to make 8" wheel.

The last set I had profesionally refurbed , the polishing of the four rims made up about £250-300 of the bill , but they did make a meal out of doing it !

Mirror polishing outer lips is very labour intensive hence the cost and is not always cost effective.

Were in the process of building a ceramic polisher to help cut costs and reduce timescales as without one it's quite easy to spend 10 hours per outer mirror polishing.

The best advice I can offer is protect the lips with a coating to prevent pitting prolong the finish etc, we recieved a set of lips for polishing from a customer we only supplied 6 months prior as they used the car regularly and didnt maintain them at all.

Glen, I think it will be fine, but two further things which may help give more clearance: get the camber set correctly, and assuming you have adjustable platforms, raise them slightly.

Cool.....

I keep going over the numbers and the internal tyre edge is in pretty much the same place so it's just the outer edge and just 12mm wider on the outer edge vs the normal rims should be ok........I think if I was putting wider rubber on it would be an issue but keeping the same should be ok

Don't have adjustables at the mo but it's on the shopping list :-)

Be actually nice to convert some 16" 8" to 7" for the front, so the sizes are the same, Also would allow me to use some 16" ones on the racer as the 8" is too wide for the racer.
