Has anyone got one with a Oven function ?

The Mrs is all for getting one, I'm not so probably due to the fact I very rarely use the one we have.

How do you find they cook something like a chicken or a joint of Beef ?

Does the food you coon turn out nice or not a patch on normal oven type cooking ?

Shouldn't it be with "an" oven?

We used to have a Sharp combined microwave/grill/oven thing and whilst it was fine for microwaving, the oven and grill were both very, very slow. The food tasted OK once it was cooked though.

They don't get as hot as a regular oven (they usually don't go above 200c), and they are much slower for grilling etc. I guess it would be ok for cooking some small stuff, like a lasagne where you want the top to go crispy... but I would certainly not try using it for a chicken or a beef/lamb/pork joint.

Sort of got the opposite of that, an oven with a microwave function. Built in Siemens job.

Does all the stuff that a regular oven does and has pyrolytic cleaning. On top of that it has a 1000W microwave that you can combine with most of the oven functions if you so desire. Brilliant for doing jacket potatoes as they cook quickly but you still get a crispy skin.

Always confuses visitors as they can't see how a microwave can have metal shelves in it.

Anyway wouldn't be without it.

We've had one for about three years, I can count the number of times the grill has been used on one hand. I don't even need one hand for the number of times we've used the oven.

My mum swears by the one she has. It's a sharp and about 10 or so years old now.
Grill function is never used, but the oven function is used a couple of times a week. Very useful for starting off roasts, or for cakes etc.

not sure I'd use one, but I guess it comes down to how big your existing oven is and how often you do lots of cooking

had a microwave wih oven in it. tried to use it once but it was crap, not very powerful so thus very slow. Never used it again, gimmick IMO. get one without the feature and use your ovens grill setting instead.

its made more useless by the fact that many microwaves are small inside so you couldn't fit a frying pan or something else in there.

I have a Panasonic and used it as the only oven for a year. It still gets more use than the main oven. It hits 230°+ without issue. Only disadvantages are that it's only a fan oven and it uses the grill to heat up so you need to be careful with cakes if you want to up the temperature.

We had a Sharp Combi Microwave/Oven/Grill for 17 years. It was great. very powerful and good at making jacket potatoes/pies, and also very powerful.

When we moved house something must have knocked loose inside as it kept tripping the RCD everytime we used it. We've replaced it with a Samsung

which isn't as powerful in my opinion, even thought they are both rated at 900w,

Stunning jacket potatoes. Worth it for them alone.

It sounds like I have the same oven. We don't do roasts or baking in it. However, things like pies, jacket potatos, lasagna etc all get cooked in it. The only slight drawback is that you have to be careful not to burn the top of your food. We often put in a bit of tinfoil half way through.

I had to ckeck to confirm that it has a grill.

I havemnt had any issues and cook everything (smallish, obv, roast chickens, pies etc) in it. Swmbo had an issue with a cake because she didn't put it in for long enough (ooer) and had to switch it back on.

ts,

the noisy household has had a Creda combi for 20 years. My observations concur with most others. It is not a substitute for a proper oven for cakes and roasts but for many things is great.
Baked taters. 90% as good as a proper oven in 5% of the time.
Small dishes.
Reheating.
Heats up in about the same time as a conventional oven.
Cheaper than a conventional oven for smaller stuff.

Disadvantages.
Insulation not good so area around gets quite warm.
Only a top element, despite the fan, cooking can be less even top to bottom - can be good for some things. I've managed to acquire two grill frames, a high and a low one. Useful for popping a plate in on top for the last 5 minutes to warm or to shield something on the bottom,

regards,
Jet

Any views on the latest generation integrated microwave ovens? Appreciate there will be some compromise in one function or another but they are reassuringly expensive so there must be some merit in their design. I've never really considered these as an option but as a space saver i may consider one for the future.

I've one of those. I forget which model. Microwave, grill and an oven- hmm I think it's the H6300.

Great bits of kit. Not cheap.

Thanks for the response. Do you feel there is any compromise in the performance of the oven or grill?

Do the extra microwave components make for a smaller oven capacity?

You lot eat so many jacket potatoes!

24 minutes? Our Sharp took 10 minutes for 1, 15 minutes for 2.... Shirley you could do it in a normal oven in 24?
