Anyone have any experience or are thinking about getting winter tyres. Continental are doing some high speed rated cold weather tyres rated to about 150mph. Are they stocked in normal tyre places? I'm based in london.

Yep, got a set on my 993. They are Pirelli 'Snow Sport' tyres, ZR rated. They work very well at cold temperatures and have a deep tread.

I drove to Verbier on them around new year, unfortunately at Porsche widths they're still not up to the job of hard packed snow on top of ice: you'll still need chains for proper safety on that. But hell, I made it without damage and it was an exciting drive!

For UK use, they feel much grippier when the outside temp is 6 deg C or less. I haven't really noticed the 'greasy / icy / dirty' slippiness normally associated with UK winter roads.

Got mine from Elite Garages in Horsham. The fitters did a very good job, no scratched rims or air guns
