Are there any decent London agencies for Finance jobs?

Planning a move back to London as soon as my flat has been renovated so since January have had my CV up on Reed, Totaljobs, CVLibrary & Indeed with a view to getting a job back in London (currently working in Cambridge)and have applied (albeit just by clicking) for about 45 (direct to employers & agencies).
All I seem to get are kids from agencies ringing me up who just seem to be a total waste of time.
I know I'm only going for the £25k a year type jobs, but even so it just seems such a palaver with all these agencies.
So as the title says, anybody know of a decent agency where people want to find you the kind of job you're looking for?

Sadly they seem to be few and far between.
The standard of agencies has significantly fallen in recent years. Historically, the recruiter had a historic relationship with both the client and the candidate, now it seems the industry is full of wide boys that last year were selling houses, cars or mobile phone contracts. Possibly the evolution of internet job boards has commoditised the process so it's just a case of throwing mud at walls.

Yes, it really does seem that way.My heart sank this morning when one of these wide boys called me, but had to go along with a ten minute chat with him, where I said the sort of thing I was looking for, ideally in the West End etc. etc. and the fact I didn't really fancy the commute.
So he mentions a job in West Ruislip.
On my CV it has my address as being in Leytonstone.
They're usually just cv collectors.
I had one last week email me saying that he had a number of suitable roles, after 20 mins on the phone he said he wanted me to travel into London to meet up (I'm out of town) and that things were quiet and they currently didn't have any roles. I emailed my cv and told him I'd get back to him. There are loads of time wasters around at the moment.

Robert Walters used to be very good, but i haven't used them for a very long time indeed.
I shared a flat with a fella that recruited for their financial services arm. He certainly worked hard for his money.They routinely shat on him from on high. So maybe worth a shot.

Ideally an Accounts Assistant sort of all round role, preferably for a small company with varied work, bank recs, sales and purchase ledger, credit control.
That sort of thing really.
Do you fancy working in practice at all?
I'm not in your area, but judging by the difficulty we have of getting people there is quite a shortage in our sector which I assume is the same in London.
(In fact our clients in "industry" seem to struggle as well to get decent people at the moment)

Not something I've ever considered to be honest. I'm not in your area, but judging by the difficulty we have of getting people there is quite a shortage in our sector which I assume is the same in London.

I've worked in lots of different sectors ranging from couriers, waste disposal, drinks suppliers, fashion (small well known shoe designer), computer software and start up technology companies.
It's all dealing with numbers whatever the sector.

You might find more variety in practice and possibly development of other skills which could give you more options in the future.
