I'm usually a big fan of Hamilton but his behaviour in the press conference was like that of a surly 14yo teenager, constantly checking his iPhone and even looking at it while he was being asked a question. FFS you're at work man so if you can leave your snap-insta-tweet alone for more than 10 seconds you need to examine your priorities.

One journo seemed to get pissed off and asked "Is that an iPhone or a Blackberry?" and Ham replied "Both". (Blackberry is merc sponsor)

He also refused to answer about the snapchat on a bike issue in NZ.

Maybe he was on a promise?

(tbh though I agree with you - didn't see it, but can imagine it)

Yep, I saw that. Very rude behaviour.

Have to agree. If there's one thing I can't stand it's rudeness.

Honestly, do we need another thread for people to piss and moan about him?

We get it, people don't like the stuff he does. Can we just stop creating a new thread every time?

Hamilton is a very emotional person and wears his heart on his sleeve. So he has very obvious moods. Sometimes he is an obnoxious petulant cock. Sometime he is truly humble and gracious. Luckily we see far more of the ladder.

It would be a challenge to anyone's personality to be 3X WDC. Great wealth, entitlement and privileged. Constant adulation and the world's most beautiful women throwing their bodies at you. With this in mind it is amazing that Hamilton remains so grounded and that his obnoxious episodes aren't more frequent.

Oh yeah, looks like you're right. I wonder why he said both then?

Anyway, this wasn't attempting to be just another ham bashing thread. As a fan I was disappointed to see him so clearly disinteresting in doing the job he is paid $millions for.

I always find it interesting as Kimi is probably the rudent person on the grid when it comes to interviews but seems to get away with and fans love him for it.

I think all the drivers should play a pre-race cricket match.... That'll cheer the miserable buggers up a bit.. (or not)

Kimi isn't rude as such. He's concise. He will pay attention, listen to the question, and answer it. Now some people don't like the answer but then they shouldn't have asked the question.

Uninterested, surely?

I've read and heard a few examples of Kimi being rude (I think if Hamilton had pushed that long-serving photographer over that few years back the internet would have officially exploded).

I think it might be casual racism again smile. Because we may sub-consciously think less of foreigners we forgive them when they behave 'funny' because we expect them to do so.

Or - if a white bloke pushes a photographer or punches a marshal then that's ok, but if a black bloke fails to behave in a formulaic white, middle class, middle aged way then it's him that's at fault.

Having said that I do think Hamilton is behaving like a bit of a knob just lately (he doesn't seem to be able to behave like an adult imo), I'm glad that so far it hasn't dented his pace at this beginning of the season 'cos I do consider that he gets distracted.

Ditto - he gave an arrogant, surly, distracted, contemptuous, impatient air; certainly 14yo old teenager very much came to mind...

He also refused several key opportunities to apologise for his phone & social media usage whilst driving a motor bike - something many companies would now class as gross misconduct (I would be instantly dismissed for doing the same - regardless of work or personal).

The words 'Hamilton' and 'role model' & 'respect' seem to be getting further and further apart... Pity really given it's the fans that pay for his considerable lifestyle....

I'll out myself as a dyed in the wool Lewis fan but that did look pretty unprofessional, head down, texting (or something) on his phone after the conference had started. As someone said, he's at work, leave that stuff until your down time. Toto should have a word with him about that, it didn't look good. Still hope he makes it championship number 4 this year.

Can't say it surprises me. Drivers generally don't like the press conferences. They get asked more or less the same inane questions. One time Mark Webber got so fed up he started messing with reporters and give stupid answers.
