When locking/unlocking my 987 CS, I can hear a brief wirring sound coming from the area around the fuel filler flap. Is this from the remote locking solenoid or something to do with the filler flap lock? It's only recently starting doing this so I'm guessing it requires some attention.

The manual says that when the key fob does not work the central locking at a normal distance, to hold it over the offside A pillar and click to operate the central locking. I am not sure whether this is anything to do with your noise but I guess it is the location of the solenoid.

Sounds feasible. I shall have to get the wheel arch cover off and have a look
