Hi newbie here, so apols if this has been covered a few times before.

I've been test driving a few 911s lately with a view to being able to put infants in the back seats of a Carrera cabriolet. However, we were in the local OPC yest and took one of our car seats with us to see if it would actually fit. We'd already been told by salesmen at two different OPCs that car seats would fit in the back, indeed one salesman had said his kids had grown up in the back of company 911s that he had over the years. So we were operating under the assumption that yes we'd be able to get our youngsters in the back. I'd already put a deposit down for a build slot.

So yest we tried fitting this seat. No way would it go in, and even if it did there was no room for the child's legs/feet. The salesman tried an official Porsche seat also and it wouldn't fit either. I'm aware that the cab has a much more vertical seat back in the rear seats than the coupe and this wasn't helping at all. Can these seat backs be removed? Would this actually help anyway?

I suppose the crucial question is do any forum members have any knowledge on a particular type/brand of seat that would fit? I don't mind buying seats if they're gonna fit. Infants are 2 and due in early summer btw. Cheers in advance.

Are we talking a new 991 911? Model is important here. I would do a forum search for 911 child car seats and you will see a gazillion threads!

Yes the 991.2 model. I'll try that seeing as I'm not getting much response. Thank you for replying though.

Stupid question, but when i first fitted a car seat i couldn't get in into the back of my 996 carrera do to not adjusting the angle of the front passenger seat. Make it a bit more vertical and you should be able to fit one in.

We did actually try a Porsche seat in the dealer's, didn't fit. There may be more than one type of course? I'm thinking we might have to go for an non Isofix type to stand any chance?

I had a 996 Turbo (coupe) several years ago and a Porsche child seat and my daughter fitted in it from 2 to 6 years of age (when I sold the car) with no problems.

Obviously a convertible sounds like a different story.

A) buy the expensive one from Porsche

B) go to Halfords and try some fittings. The 997 has velcro'd in seat cushions, so tear them out.

I have pair of the Halfords Essentials Group 3 Booster Seat, now reduced from £7.50 to £6 !!!!

they are Group 3, meaning

The Law said:
Halfords Essentials Group 3 Booster Seat Extra Info
Suitable for ages 4-12 years (approx 15-36kg)
Cushion boosters without a back should only be used for children >22Kg
Must be used with your vehicle's 3 point seat belt system not lap belt
Complies to ECE R44/04 regulations
I leave the seat cushions in and my >22kg kids aged 3 and 4 are fine on short journeys. sleeping in the back would not work, and a naughty young-un can slip out of the three-point standard belt pretty easily.

but for trips to the pub, for Sunday lunch, with mum and dad, in the Porsche !!! Bingo.

I hear the 991 is bigger in the rear. There is supposedly more space so kids can sit in the back and an adult in the front passenger seat. Not sure how comfortable it is for the kids though.

Hi,
I have a 996.1 version of the 911 Carrera 4 coupe (Year 2000). It has a Recaro Monza child seat, which is group 123 (bought new at Halfords in June 2016.) We tried several seats in the car (Halfords staff were great at letting us take loads out and trying them all in the car; little one clambering in each time to test each one out.) Several seats didn't fit at all, so it was vital to actually try them out before buying. I haven't needed to remove the rear seat base either, as some have suggested. Hope you find this info useful 😀

Halford and mothercare refused to sell me a seat. That's with the seat backs in (didn't fit well, and with them remove (seat was modified!)

Asked around on the forums and came across this bee safe seat that fits ok, it's got a really tiny base which fits into the bucket reasonably well. BeSafe iZi Comfort X3.

The baby seat is a maxi cosy pebble.

It's workable but not the ideal family car.

I take my eldest out all the time but both only once. We've got a civic that can get covered in yogurt and biscuits.

I also have a Quinny zap pushchair that fits in the boot.
