Anybody had the Racing Green supplied SYVECS S6GP ECU installed in either a Tamora or T350?

Just about to pull the trigger myself but would love to speak with someone in the Surrey area thats already had one installed or even get a chance to see an actual install.

Thanks

It transforms a car. I remember when they fitted it to an extremely ropey old Tuscan and it was transformed into the smoothest S6 I'd driven. Power have played chase up and now have an MBE option which is probably just as good though.

Probably worth giving Charlie at SRR a call? Or Syvecs themselves? To find out more.

Fitted to mine, along with the RG FFF lump. Great bit of kit.

The best bit and one of the things which makes the car more modern feeling is the addition of an idle control valve with the system. It gets rid of that low cold idle/higher warm idle. It starts 900 rpm cold and stays there...

I had it fitted to my old 4.5 Tamora, the traction control work well most of the time but on slow sharp bends it would reduce power. But other than that it was a massive improvement over the standard ECU and on economy map I could get 27mpg from the 4.5ltr. Something to note, mine was I think the only one that TVR Power rebuilt they would warrant. something to think about in the future if you where to Powers Performance do an engine rebuild/upgrade.

Economy mode; I've never actually used that on mine... Did you stick with Super U?

Good to see the positive comments and how the driveability improves.

Looking at a DIY install at the moment as I've plenty of time on my hands and once completed take to Surrey rolling roads to have it mapped and set up correctly. Interested in the economy / MOT settings mentioned wink

Have spoken to Syvecs to understand what "Base map" it comes with as I'm worried that at the end of the install I wouldn't be able to start it and get it out the garage for tuning. Appears Ryan at Syvecs is the Guru on set-up but he's in Dubai at present. So looking to get a base map copy from one thats already installed if anyone is willing to share!

Did wonder why there was only one lambda used and not the two that as fitted, appear that the original MBE unit designed for a V8 and runs the engine a two banks (which I knew) but the Syvecs runs it as a true straight 6 using only one Lambda, one TPS and replaces the spare Lambda with an exhaust gas temp probe, then add the knock and cam sensors with individual injector firing its got to be worth the swap out. Only slight negative is the learning curve required to get to grips with the Syvecs software but there seems to be plenty of guidance/ videos on the net available to assist.

God knows how to map it. wink

I have it running the traction control and also these fancy ceramic cooling fans. It keeps the engine at a fixed 88 which is quite a bewitching experience in a TVR as I still keep assuming the sensor is broken. biggrin

The knock sensor is a brilliant addition and what probably allows for a much finer tune as much as the increase in mapping points.

I'd definitely recommend these smarter ECUs for our engines because as well as making them sharper and more responsive as well as smoother I suspect they help prevent some wear and tear.

That's a real shame. Getting caught in summer traffic jams was one of the big fears over the years and these fans seem a brilliant bit of tech.

I think I'm going to investigate cf chimneys over the fans to help direct and accelerate the air out of the slats.

Haven't got much to add to Don1 and T40ORA as the three of us are running very similar setups to each other - all with Syvecs, RG's FFF2 head, and Simplex Timing Chain conversion.

The Syvecs is awesome. As other have said, running the engine as an actual straight 6 with fully mapped sequential ignition and knock sensors is how the engine should be run!

I prefer to call it "range extender" mode than "economy mode". biggrin

What's economy mode? Is that mode 4 or so? Mine stays in mode zero, unless advanced to 5 for the tunnels...

I've long forgotten mine but I do recall inventing the 'wife mode' option and explaining it to Ryan. biggrin

Depends on how it was mapped, Don. There's no set order, as such. I specified my own order, and I think Lee adopted it too.

The order is:
  1. V-Power
  2. 95 RON
  3. Lean cruise / extended range
  4. Pops & Bangs 1
  5. Pops & Bangs 2
  6. Off / kill
  7. Valet
  8. Spare / unused
I have TC on a separate dial.

I have two "pops & bangs" maps. The "standard" one which I consider to be a bit too extreme for anything other than occasional use, and a much less extreme one that you can use more often. It was my idea to do that as we had a spare slot and it seemed like a good way to fill it.

I'll nip out and check my list of settings, but I know that on mine noisy pops and bangs is the same as for Don.
