Hi all,
I'm looking for some new tyres for the standard 16" wheels. Last year the only make I could find doing front and rear wheels were Toyos. Now it appears they don't , or have I missed a company that still sells them? . I don't like having different brands for front and rear wheels. Will I have to invest in 17" wheels? The problem is I find the original wheels give a nice ride and turning circle. Plus it will cost a lot.

Thanks Mark

Ive seen both 235/50 and 245/45 quoted for rear tyre sizes so have a look below:

245/45 R16 T1-Rs are still listed on Toyo's website so maybe ring them and see where their UK dealers are and get a set ordered?

While it is possible to find a few different tyres in 245/45/16, try doing that in an emergency. I had a tyre delaminate at Spa in my other car (my fault it wasn't exactly fresh), and then spent half a day driving round Liege on a space saver. Fortunately found a pair but we must have tried a dozen tyre shops first. Another time I had one fail in Italy on a driving holiday, and it took 3 days to get a pair and cost €500, worse still when they did arrive I saw that the manufacture date was 9 years earlier.

I am just going through the pain and expense of finding 17" wheels with the correct offsets for my other car, but the upside is that I can now share tyres between the two cars, which will both be on AD08.

Thank you so much! That is brilliant news. Now I can think about getting the wheels refurbished.

Check the speed rating, the Toyos are W rated, not high enough for the Cerbera. I know the speed limit is 70 blah blah blah, but if it all goes south insurance companies will be looking for any excuse. I moved to 17" for better tyre choice and run 225/45 Goodyear F1 all round ( basically speed six size es).

That's a good point, which had crossed my mind. The trouble is that Toyos seem to be the only brand that can be fitted. If I do go for 17" wheels, where is the best place to find the wheels?

W rating is up to 168mph. Few Cerberas are doing that even occasionally, let alone on a regular basis.

I think the rating is for 10 minutes continuous running. So while some of us do see 170+ regularly, it's only for seconds rather than minutes.

Not saying it isn't too low for all Cerberas by any means, but it is fine for most of them.

For 16" wheels I have Toyo T1R on the front and Falken FK-452 on the back. For track R888s all round.

Insurance companies do not with hold payments for things like tyres being a lower speed rating than the car is capable of.

Non issue.

This is the issue you may come across.. Old tyres are not good! Protyre only stock tyres for 180 days before sending them back to the manufacturer to be sold on by others.

My owners manual states 225/45 on the front and 235/50 on the rear.

Without checking, I think I've got Continental Sport Contact 2's on the front. I liked the straight tread pattern on them, as the Toyos tended to tramline.
I ended up with Toyos on the back, and recently bought one online from 'Ears Tyres'

Thanks for mentioning Eartyres. Just been on the website. I think I will order from them, as they have the set of Toyos.

I thought those Toyos were discontinued. So when I spotted them on Ears, I called to make sure they had one. The guy said yes, so I ordered it.

Then I got an email to say they were out of stock, and would take a day to arrive smile

That said, I think the original quote off their site, was 48 hours delivery or something like that. And the tyre did still arrive within that timescale.
