Someone please satisfy my curiosity. If I won the Lotto and spent every penny I had on singing lessons would I still be a piss poor singer or would the tuition turn me from seriously ste into a hopeful prospect on The Voice?

Easy. You wouldn't even need to win the lottery. Weekly lessons and daily practice will have you up and running in no time. Natural ability helps, but is not critical.
Anyone can be taught to sing as it's mainly breathing and muscle control. The only reason I can think of as to why you may not be able to sing is because you're tone deaf.
