I would be grateful if any members could advise as to the effect on value afforded by some of the 'Limited edition' statuses of Porsche models- particularly 911, Cayman, Boxster. I have seen a Cayman S 3.4 advertised which is of interest but is perhaps rather more expensive than I might have expected, I wonder if this is because it is of a 'limited edition.'( a reported 700)? I would be grateful for any thoughts/advice......are limited edition values boosted and are these values maintained to the point of future resale? Thanks. P

Sellers often try to elevate the importance of certain models because they were part of a 'limited run'.

But, in truth, very few have any added value, they are usually 'run-out' models with a few bits of exclusive trim. GT and RS and R models are really the only meaningful limited editions.

Assuming ts the Cayman S Sport these actually do carry a bit of a premium over a standard car. Usually a nice colour with good spec and nice wheels all things that go a long way in the used Porsche market.

^^ This. And it's very difficult to tell in advance what will be sought after in the future. At the time they were being sold the last of the air-cooled 993s were just another 911.

There's also the problem that "specials" only really hold their value if you don't use them. Which seems rather pointless.
