Hi PH friends,

I walked into my local Audi dealership (without an appointment admittedly) to try and buy an Audi Q7 as the new family car. What a shambles. Showroom was a mess and long/short no-one was available to assist or help nor did they have a Q7 on-site that I could sit in.

Off I trotted to BMW Park Lane where I was greeted instantly at the door of an immaculate showroom where I promptly bought an in-stock but new BMW X5 40e. I was set on buying a Q7 but its amazing how a small negative experience can put you off something completely.

Most of driving takes place within the M25 so the hybrid really is perfect for my needs. Does anyone have any experience of them? I know they are pretty new and fresh on the market but am curious about the real-world range of the electric motor.

I really didn't want a diesel and I know a massively heavy hybrid SUV doesn't on the surface make a lot of sense but it ticks a lot of boxes for the wife and I.

Anyone have any experience of one?

(Incidentally it could be sales-chatter but the salesman said BMW Park Lane bought 20 of these 2 weeks ago and they are down to their last 3. Annoyingly its 2mg above the 75mg/km threshold to be congestion charge free but you get 4h free parking in Westminster, free Westminster parking permit etc.)

I was thinking of ordering one of these myself and was wondering how you were getting on with it and your general thoughts?
