I have no chance of sniffing a 991R , a GT2RS or a GT3RS

I am now booking a series of "failure in life" sessions with my therapist

Are you just going to go for the regular sessions ? Why not try for the special edition, 15 minutes longer, with limited availability ones.

I was thinking Simon Templer. Really like the look of that save for the oversized wheels

OK, I'll bite. How much, roughly, are we talking about to build something really good? I know its a bit like asking how long's a piece of string but can something with sorted body / paint / brightwork and decent motor with modern suspension and refitted standard be built for less than a new GT car? GT4 preferably, rather than GT3RS?

Finding an older car that is a) not ridiculously expensive already and b) not in need of rust repairs will be a challenge.

Anything involving welding and metal work will cost loads in labour and a top paint job could be the price of a decent hot hatch.

A donor engine if you're going air cooled will also need work.

Brakes, suspension etc are easy enough to source.

Labour at £££ per hour mounts up very quickly and at the end of it you have a recreation/modernisation rather than a classic.

ETA: and my response to the original question is 'No', absolutely not. Manners maketh man, not being awarded a car by a commercially driven organisation.

You're absolutely right - though you could probably get a GT3RS, a GT4 and a very usable classic 911 fully restored for the same price.

I too have no chance of flipping a GT/RS car, sorry I meant buying. I phoned the samaritans the other day about this. They basically told me that I have no history with them I can't speak to them.

I regret now that I did not go for a 996RS when they were a reasonable price.

They were never legal for North America, but after 15 years they can be imported into Canada where i live. Should have done it and kept it in Europe till it was legal. The therapy sessions have been helpful.

My point being if you think owning a halo car means your life has been a success then you have much to learn. And it was tongue in cheek - as was the OP.
