GOLD CUP weekend, I am going but I've not seen any info here? It looks to be a good weekend anyone else know anything about it or are going?

Hi there. Hubby and I will be there as we are racing. You are correct to say it looks like a good weekend of historic racing including: historic sportcars, F2, FF, pre-66 F1, GTs (Classic Sports Cars), 70's Roadsports and Historic Roadsports. I can dig out my paperwork if you want all the races and times.

FYI I will racing hubby's Lancia Beta Coupe (no 66) in the 70's Roadsports (first race on Sunday) and hubby will be racing our Griffith 200 (no 11) in the HRS race (third race on Sunday) providing the rebuilt engine which, only went in a couple of days ago, gets properly run in and set up.

Let me know if you want more details of the weekend.

You mean there are still Lancia Betas which haven't rusted into dust? This I must see

Still mourning my dad's Beta which lasted about as long as the tyres it came with.......

I tell you that the Lancia Beta is the most under rated car around. Its really, really unfortunate that they used Russian steel (or whatever) to make the cars as they are truly wonderful as your dad will no doubt contest. We are very lucky to own and race a 1965 TVR Griffith and my racing Lancia Fulvia Sports Zagato but (call me mad) my absolute favourite is our Beta Coupe. It looks great and drives very well. The only limiting factor (no not rust, ours I'm pleased to say is now rust free) is the single 34 carb which we cannot change in our race series.

If you're around at Oulton on Sunday, come over and have a chat. You won't miss our Beta (new colour scheme of red with 2 white stripes to match our Griffith). There is another Beta Coupe and 2 Beta Montecarlo's racing too.

Hi LAK,
Would be great if you could post some details up- unfortunately I am not lucky enough to own or even race- but still an enthusiastic supporter, along with my eldest lad (just turned into a teenager). Quite keen on the 70's GT's, this era during my 'formative years' and remember the Lancia family well. Also interested in jags, heard there may be a D-type or two?
If so are they racing? Are they replicas? 1.2million a go I believe.
Thanks

Hi Seanoff. I will try to remember to bring in the full race details tomorrow so I can give you the practice and race times and a flavour of the types of cars in each race. I'm sure there is a C type or 2 entered in one of the Sunday races. I'll post more tomorrow.
