Jaguar Project 7 against XKSS
Discussion
Had a call from Jaguar France to borrow the XKSS next week. They are doing filming the new Project 7 F-type, which supposedly "has its roots in the D-type" and wanted the equivalent from the day to compare. I'm not in France so I've lent it to someone competent, who raced Mk 1s and 2s in the day, to take my place. More competent than me I might say. So it'll turn up on the French M6 Turbo channel sometime, and I have no doubt it'll turn up in the UK as well later on. Just a heads up for you all. They were rather surprised to find one - even a replica, close to the circuit!
Reminds me of the day EVO used my E-type and compared it to the XKR in 1999. Not much in it in the slalom and the roundabout, but braking was 50% more for the E-type! And as they finished by saying "As a driving experience the rumbustious E-type is far more involving that the dazzlingly quick and refined XKR. It's the one you would choose for crack-of-dawn enjoyment. Not so much evidence of progress here". They also tested the Anglia against the Focus, and there the cars were worlds apart it seems.
But around 600 bhp or whatever against 300, I don't think that the old technology will do too well!
