Rear Speaker Cables

My car at some point had rear speakers fitted in the vent holes, judging by the four holes around the vents. There are also 8 speaker cables running from the back of the head unit.

I’ve fitted some new speakers in the rear, but can’t find the rear speaker cables anywhere obvious (I’ve taken out the two carpets above and over the petrol tank, and also had a good look in the panels behind the doors).

If anyone could suggest where the cables to the rear might run, it’ll save me the hassle of running a new set to the head unit.

Any suggestions appreciated, before I start pulling up carpet on Friday night !!

Normally through the top corner of the boot then down through the rear side carpet down towards the seatbelt mount then along the floor/sill towrds the front footwell.

Check near side first, (not rear side - eh Corin).

Mine are under the carpet each side.
Dont wory as long as you have the ends at head unit, and in the boot test them then use.

No I meant REAR side as in the carpet that is either side in the rear.

Look in the passenger side door lock mechanism area, in wall behind carpet. Later cars were wired to an unused connector, You'll have to take the headunit out and match the wire colours though, since they change on mine from standard iso to any old colour of wire they had lying around. Not that hard to sort it though.

Don't bother taking the head unit out as the wires may change colour in between the back of the head unit and the connector plug. Just place the wires from the speaker in the holes in the connector by the door and adjust the radio to rear left and rear right to see if you have the right wires in the right place. Label the wires into the block, at the head unit end, so you can either use the connector block of cut it off and use an alternative connector. No need to remove the labels so they will be there for future reference.
