Hi,

Is there anyone here who knows the depreciation of the early DB9's, are the prices still dropping or have they levelled out?

Plus how much do you think they will lose value in say the next 5 years?

Thanks
Paul.

Yeah....funny.

I was hoping to get some advise from someone who knows the brand long term, maybe who knows how prestige car prices adjust long term.

We all know a Ford fiesta will depreciate until it reaches scrap value as it's a mass produced car, but the DB9 is a small produced hand built car, so the price shouldn't keep on going down reaching scrap value??

I've looked online at DB7 prices and they are lower than the DB9 except if you want a DB7 volante?

Anyone with any advice??

Thanks

Find me that person and I'll be asking them about stocks and investments. Who knows? The DB11 has been launched and could rip the DB9 market to pieces, alternatively it could strengthen it if people want to hold on to their olde NA V12s. All we know at the moment is values are pretty steady.

I think the earliest cars, DB9 and Vantage have already bottomed out and now sold on condition. Will maintain value. I dont imagine any £15k DB9s in 5 years time wink

The main dealer that I purchased by 2007 Manual DB9 offered me the same money that I paid for it 3 years ago in Part Ex on a newer model.

DB11 launch will have no effect on DB9 prices. They are in two completely different price categories so are not appealing to the same buyers. If you have just bought a new DB9 then it will obviously have an effect but as the launch of the DB11 is already a fact i would guess that this is taken into the consideration of the discerning buyer of a new DB9 and hence is already reflected in the actual prices paid for these vehicles (and hence not the advertised prices).

I do. Look at the DB7 prices 5 years after the DB9 came out. Dropped into the teens. Also, a lot of the tech will in the current cars will become difficult / expensive to maintain - see air bags after 10 years as an example

But what do I know. Sold my Vantage 7/8 months ago. Prices appear to have gone up over the winter

There are lots of DB7's that exceed the DB9 pricing at today's values.

In my opinion the Early DB9's are still going down but I feel they are close to levelling off, many DB7's are on the rise and the last few sold via auction have gone for £40K+ quite easily.

You can pick up Gaydon era cars now for high £20K's and upwards.

Overall and in time the 7's will probably command a higher value than the "mass" produced Gaydon cars.

I think Works might have a 7GT which is asking £70K, though these were produced in very limited numbers.

If you want a DB9, early ones are priced ok I think, just be sure to have any bargains you find thoroughly inspected.

Here is the 7GT I mentioned: DB7 GT

Bought my low mileage 2006 DB9V exactly a year ago, prices advertised now are definitely 2 or 3k higher

There are now, but my point was 5 years after the release of the DB9 lots of DB7's were in teens pricing. How anyone can guess what the price will be in another 5 years time is beyond me - we could be out of the EU and therefore economy broken / economy growing rapidly, at war with Islam / down the pub getting pissed.

In 2008 Vantage trade prices crashed as the first 3yr PCP deals came in at the same time as the financial turmoil in the world ...I know people who traded in 3 year old cars for less than a 10 year old one is worth now

Hang onto it long enough and look after it then you dont lose anything smile

There is an article in this month's EVO magazine about DB9-onwards Astons values/market update.

To summarise, they say db9 and vantages are relatively safe bets at this values.

I am not sure about Db9, but with Vantages I have been looking at market values for the last few years (4-5) and the values are probably remained the same / moved up with inflation. Bought mine 4.7 last May, similar mileage cars are now advertised at 2-3k more

I'd just raise one question - how many here, if they saw a 50k mile, good condition DB9 going for £15k would buy it as an additional car? I know I would. That's probably why they won't get there....

Totally agree,

Or, on the same token, would you buy an 06 vantage 4.3 or a 06 997 Carrera-(something) if, suddenly, the price of the former dropped to £25k of the latter? A Vantage, very likely

That's why, in my opinion, Vantages residuals at these levels haven't got particular reasons to go down from here. Even EVO arrived at the same conclusion, btw

I bought our 2007 DB9V two year ago and sold it back to the same dealer 10 days ago. It is up for 3k more than I paid two years ago yikes

It is however a low mileage car in top condition.

Early good condition low mileage DB9's have certainly gone up. I have been offer way more than I have paid for mine. Check out the new issue of Vantage good article on the DB9. Lovely looking early DB9, rather biased though!!
