I am about to put in a bid for a E430 on ebay. 2000 car 105K Miles, 2 previous owners, good MOT history and full sh.
Looks lovely in photos, owner swears it is a good one with no rust....

Should I go for it? I really feel I need to own a V8 before I die and this one is up for £2.5K. Will try at 2k?

What to look for? Is it too good to be true, a car like this for 5% of its original purchase price?

If it's the black one from the 1-5 thread then looks very nice. Buy it.

Its dark grey, ,
probably is the same one, there is only one E430 saloon on ebay at the moment, I think, that and a tatty looking saloon. I have made an offer... Seller is going to put brand new MOT on it for the buyer and get any work done. Cant ask for much more really.

Do let us know if you buy this car. We looked at it in the barges thread. It looks super. A rust-free, good-nick E430 would be a very fine car, I suspect.

Oh dear me, my keenness to get a better deal cost me this one! Shortly after mid-day I offered the seller 2K because you should never start with the asking price. He eventually came back about 8PM and rejected it, I went back with £2.2K by which time someone had offered the full 2.5K...

Doh and double doh!!

The seller seemed a really genuine guy, he texted my back to say he "was really sorry" when the car sold and was prepared to put a new MOT on it as soon as he knew I was interested. I checked the MOT history and no advisories other than bulbs and wipers type stuff...

My old hope now is that the person who pushed "buy it now" is another ebay time-waster, but somehow I doubt it....

You live and learn!

Shame. If it was a good one then £2,500 would be OK but I wouldn't pay any more. The one that got away...
