Cerbera 4.5 2003
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Ive Been browsing the TVR dealers looking for a nice cerbie 4.5 and saw the following:
www.karkingdom.co.uk/_karkingdom.htm
This Cerbie 4.5 is a 2003 model, only 12,000 miles and looks real pretty. I know its not a TVR main dealer but if it has a full TVR service history this could be a fantastic deal?
I was looking at other 4.5 2003 cars and they are all minumum £38,000 with same mileage.
Does anyone know about the car or have any advice before I make the call?
Thanks Guys.
Steve

Yes, go for it, as that car seems extremely cheap

Why's it got light pods if it's 2003? I thought they had been changed by then.
Love to see what his warranty's like as well "backed by his own service dept"!!!!!!!
A man from canvey who deals in motooors with a top value toward 6k messing with an AJP???
mind you the software off a vauxhall cavalier is probably near enough to set it all up.
I say have caution my friend

Dont be fckin stupid. The guy sells every other peice of 'normal' junk but TVR's, and only a handful of indies have the skills to work on these babies outside the dealership ring, if I was you, walk in, flash 25k, pick it up, walk out, and put the 4k away for safety just in case. The car dont come with a warranty, just backed by their 'service department', which is another way of saying, we can change the oil, do the tyres, tape the backbox up.
My guess: ex-company car that's been through the auctions. Noone'll want to touch it there 'cos it's a liability, so they'll have picked it up cheap - £25k or so, maybe a little less. They'll be looking for a quick profit.
I'd offer them £28k and get them to throw in a 1 year third-party warranty.
If it turns out to be a lemon, get it dyno'd then take it back, as it's guaranteed to be a good 50BHP+ down on what they're claiming.

I've seen this advertised before with the same picture last year! Something is nagging be in the back of the head saying Damaged/repaired but I could be wrong! (Apologises if I am) Whatever you do HPI check it or get James Agger to look at it or some other Cerbera Expert! But does look nice, then they all do in a photo.

I recognise it as well. Think it was a cat D. NOT A FACT THOUGH! Check carefully. No such thing as a cheap cerbrea.

Got my V reg Cerb, with all the boxes ticked (air-con, full leather + leather extra bits, etc.), heading on towards two years ago now. No accidents. No problems in a year besides a single fuse blowing. £22k.
There are bargains to be had - it's just hard to tell a bargain from a lemon sometimes...

So it has been cheap to service, fuel, and insure?
Compared to what it could have been, absolutely. I might have blown a fortune on upgrading it, etc. but that was my choice. In terms of the price I bought it for and the state it was in - an absolute bargain. Similar cars were about £6k more at the time from dealers. All because it had been through the auctions... had all the paperwork for 4 years of top-notch, nothing-left-unfixed servicing, an so on. Definitely bargains to be had...
Cheers Guys, some really helpful advice there.
I think I will give them a call and find out as much about the car as poss (is it Cat D, whats the service history, who has carried out the services etc...)
If all sounds okay, I will pop down and look at it first hand.
If I like what I see and it drives well, I will get the HPI check completed.
If that passes, I will see if I can find a TVR experienced person to take a look at it with me and then make an offer if he gives the all clear!
Fingers crossed, I may be joining you guys on the next meet!!!
Thanks Again fellas!

Drove pasted this dealers on a number of occasions...looks a very nice car, but yes it has definately been a Cat D...I saw this advertised in a few places, including here in the classifieds around xmas time. The owner of the dealership, has or had, a reflex purple Tuscan, although that was up for sale at some point also...

I'm sure I saw the same car advertised on Autotrader before Xmas and was stated as Cat D. They may have just used the same photo but the add is almost identical as best as I can remember.
Just get it well checked out it could be a bargain.
oh yikes, if it was that one, the first guy was asking a lot less for it
Well done fella's, car is indeed Cat D so not gonna go near it! Cheers for the accurate advice.
Spotted a nice Didge Viper Blue Cerbie (2000) at Henley Heritage but it has 30,000 on the clock which is quite high (or is it)???
Car has Sports Exhaust and Nitron Suspension and has just had big service completed at Henley Heritage.
Are these guys good at what they do?

Thoughts please?
