996 C4S Convertible - Changing retro heated seats buttons
Discussion
Hi I have a 2004 convertible 996 C4S and I had retro heated seats installed with retro buttons. Now I wish I had gone for original Porsche ones. The buttons are only £30 a pop on Design 911. But I was wondering why it's such a big job and only Porsche can do this as this will cost loads more than an independent Porsche garage ? I don't want to change my seats and I asked Cridfords my Porsche independent garage to do this and they said the electrics on the back of the switch. This is their reasoning which kind of makes sense.
With regards to the heated seats, I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to do it as the original Porsche switches won't connect to the wires from the heated seat pads (retro) that are fitted, the only way would be to get Porsche to fit a whole new system to the car. It's because there are multiple connections on the back of the original switches all put together in a multi-connector so it couldn't be crimped up at all.
Any ideas ? Or rough prices or guidance where I could do this will be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi
Basically the Porsche switches can be used on aftermarket seats but they require a bespoke circuit board, reason is that the Porsche button is 2 stage ie press once for heat level 1,press twice for level two, press again for off.
You'd need to make a bespoke circuit board for each seat. if you know what youre doing this isn't very hard. If you're paying someone it's not going to be viable as it's probs 1-2 days testing, design, installation.
if they work ok just live with it basically
