Can AJP be left without oil in it?
Discussion
I emptied the oil yesterday from my 4.5 AJP engine intending to refill it immediately - that was up until I threaded the sump pan drain plug hole!
Assuming I do not repair the thread for a while does anyone know how long I can leave the car without any oil in without the possibility of doing any damage?
Should I shove a cork in the drain hold and stick 5 litres of crappy oil in it to prevent any damage before the expensive Motul 300V goes in or is it no problem leaving it and if so for how long?

There'll still be a film on most surfaces, so you'll be fine for a while, might be worth shoving something in the plug hole just to bung it up. Putting more oil in won't really do much as it'll just sit in the sump.
Obviously don't leave it for years and years, reckon you'd be fine for at least a year though, especially if it's in a garage and the water is still in the engine.

Ah yes of course. I guess it is technically no different to leaving it sitting still with the sump full! Thanks.
Bonjour, I will be in France 1st to 14th of May and staying in Arcachon 5-8th of May with Club Capri Passion for their National Weekend we will be doing runs out each day with a treasure hunt on the Saturday. Hope you get your car fixed I can always get a sump plug from here as I live in Blackpool and there are lots of spares about. We will be in our 1966 MK1 Cortina Crayford which you may have seen at Angouleme Circuit des Remparts in September. best of luck. Ron.
