Hello,

My wife has just bought a 2005 new beetle convertible. I have a couple of questions, the top is a bit faded, has a couple of scuffs and could do with a refurb - does anybody suggest a good renovator product? One of the members suggested renovo are there any others? I want to do a good job, read a few posts about the renovo drying unevenly?

Also the inner hood lining has come out of its track by the rear window, can we stop the roof mid way whilst opening and fix it, as this would relieve some tension I think.

Finally, apart from finding a new set of alloys in the future, the interior light does not work when the doors open. The lights work, but the actual switch to toggle between on/doors etc is missing - can I just get the switch and push it back in or will we need a new unit.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, she loves it btw

You may need to re-colour with renovo two or three times to get an even colour, and best get the roof as clean as possible first not to re-colour it in full sun. You can buy a Renovo kit which includes cleaner, colour, and proofer.

Yes you can stop the hood when part opened by just letting go of the switch, but once stopped remove the ignition key (or even disconnect the battery) as a safety measure, you don't want someone else operating the switch while you have your fingers/arms in the hood mechanism.
