Help needed identifying this classic please

Hi,

I'm at my inlaw's for the weekend and my Mother in law has showed me this photo of her Grandfather's old car. I don't recognise what it is, the car is long dead and so is the registration number so we know nothing about it.

Can anyone identify what it is please?

Its a 1930ish Chevrolet.

It's right hand drive, so almost certainly not a Chevy.

It's definitely a Chevy - look at the radiator badge:

100% certain its not.

Radiator badge and the shape of the exterior sun visor means it's a Chevy.
The bottom of the Radiator badge dips into the grille on the radiator as below and the filler is of the same design

And yes, Chevrolet did build right hand drive cars in the 1930s.

Except it's not. Look at the wheels, the radiator badge etc. It's clearly a Chevy. Well done whoever named it.

No.
Chevys were sold all over the world.

Indeed; lived in South Africa (Jo'burg) in late 60s / early 70s. Dad had a Pontiac Bonneville that was RHD as was the '55 Chevy that lived a few doors up from us. A guy I know has a '58 Chevy Apache pickup that he brought back from SA which was built out there RHD.

My Grandfather had one of those on Cyprus in the '30s; as a doctor employed by the (then) British government, he was one of few with motorised transport to answer urgent calls. My old man remembered that it seated anywhere between four and about twelve occupants (not always human) in reasonable comfort. Either the horn was defunct or missing, so the preferred way of moving goats and such out of the way was to fold down the windscreen and shout at them. Dust was a problem...

Wow that's some great replies on this thanks, I never would have thought of it being a Chevrolet especially because it's right hand drive. It really does look like the one about but this was missing the front bumper.

I have no idea yet of the story behind the car, when this photo was taken etc. I'll tell my mother in law tomorrow and I'll see what she knows about it.
