I've recently picked up a E61 M5. It's running well and I was wondering if it's worth replacing the clutch and flywheel as the car has just clicked over 48k, it hasn't got any issues btw.
Is it overkill or just being preventive for avoiding issues further down the line ?
If first engages smoothly and the car shifts smoothly after several full throttle upshifts then leave well enough alone IMHO. Might be worth getting a clutch adaptation done.
I had the same dilemma when i bought mine with 50k and still on the original clutch. It's now on 80k and still going strong! Lots of these cars get over 100k on a clutch if you've not used the launch control.
